In a crystal diode in which conductors 2, 3, carrying a semi-conductive member 4 and a whisker 5 respectively are sealed in the ends of a glass envelope 1, apertured covers 6 are ,clamped on to the ends of the glass envelope 1, conductors 2, 3 passing through apertures 7 and being soldered thereto at 8. The sides of covers 6 and the exposed surface of glass envelope 1 may be coated with a lacquer layer 11.
