Abstract

819,597. Blind riveting. NIENBURGER METALLWARENFABRIK A. THIES G.m.b.H. Dec. 5, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 37175/56. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A metal tube 6, Fig. 1, is joined to a part 10, e.g. a wooden board, by a pin with a serrated shank 11 secured by its head 12 to the part 10 and engaging with its shank the bore 9 of a plug 8 of elastic deformable material mounted in a hole 7 in the tube wall. The plug bore is part conical initially and the head is mounted in an undercut hole 13 and held therein by thermoplastic material 14 applied hot. In a modification, the head is secured in a parallel-sided hole in part 10 by a cup-shaped part 17, Fig. 4, flattened to dig its periphery into the hole wall. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 786,862.
