818,392. Draught excluders. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd., and MILES Ltd., H. G. April 5, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 11942/56. Class 20(3) A flexible seal strip of sponge rubber 1, particularly for motor vehicle doors, has bonded to it a flat strip 4 of harder, non-spongy rubber from which project longitudinally-spaced blocks 3 of the harder rubber, each block 3 being grooved longitudinally of the strip 4, as at 6. The seal strip is secured to a sheet-metal member such as a door 7 by inserting the blocks 3 into pairs of holes 8A, 8A and 8B, 8B in the members 7, the holes of each pair being spaced further apart than the blocks 3 and having narrower portions 9A or 9B at their nearer ends so that the seal strip requires longitudinal stretching to insert the blocks into the wider portions of the holes 8A and 8B and the margin of the narrower end 9A or 9B of each hole enters the grooves 6 in each block when the tension is released to retain the blocks in position. Between each pair of holes the strip must not be under tension and may be under slight longitudinal compression.
