Class 108(1) In a skip assembly of the kind having its supporting structure 14, 15, 16 attached to the rear of a tractor and having a skip 10 pivotally mounted on this structure so that it can move between its load carrying and load discharging positions, the structure 14, 15, 16 extends beneath the skip and at the rear pivotally supports the skip about a horizontal axis 34, an arm 36 attached to the skip rear wall 11 being acted upon at 47 by a double-acting ram 40; it being possible to hold the skip in any intermediate position. The supporting structure comprises a frame 14 formed from side and transverse members 15 and 16, and having inboard vertical members 17 the rearward edges 18 of which conform to the front wall 12 of the skip 10. Lugs 20 on members 17 are joined to a lug 22 on the tractor by a lynch pin 21 and the frame is further supported by struts 23 attached to the rear of the tractor. Vertical trunnion plates 28 secured, to the rear of side members 15, to member 16 and to gusset plates 31 support the journal bearings 33 for the skip pivot pins 34 which are secured to lugs 35 on a tie bar 30 fastened to the skip. The lower end of an arm 36 attached to the rear wall 11 of the skip and reinforced by a vertical gusset plate 39, is pivoted at 47 to piston rod 46, the other end of ram 40 being held by a bracket fastened to the forward end of frame 14. Hydraulic fluid pressure applied through pipes 42 to the rearward end of ram 40 retracts rod 46, rocking the skip towards the discharge position.
