Abstract

817,535. Cable eyes and loops. PREFORMED LINE PRODUCTS CO. Sept. 11, 1956, No. 27741/56. Class 109 A dead end in the form of a bight B for a cable C comprises at least one helically preformed element 1 disposed about the cable so that at least part of the element is bent back upon itself to define a bight, the element being disposed about the cable as two intertwisted coaxial legs depending from the bight and gripping the cable. The number of elements 1 may be sufficient to enclose the cable completely at 10, the bight portion being engaged by a "half-lay" 5 of the elements (Fig. 5). Alternatively, the cable may not be enclosed within the bight, which may enclose a dummy core, or form a self-supporting open or closed helix. The bight itself may contain more elements than the leg portions so that it forms a closed helix of the same internal diameter as that which is formed by the intertwisted leg portions. Specification 817,534 is referred to.
