Abstract

817,364. Rotary meters. BRODIE CO., R. N. July 13, 1956, No. 21738/56. Class 110 (2). In a rotary meter comprising a rotor 7 having three helical lobes defined by epicycloidal surfaces meshing with a rotor 12 having four helically extending sockets defined by epitrochoidal surfaces, the inlet port (see Fig. 1, not shown), is disposed normal to the axis of the meter and has oppositely converging helical edges conforming to the helix angles of the sockets and the lobes respectively, the outlet port opening axially to said rotors and communicating with radial enlargements 28, 29 of the rotor bores. The depth of the radial enlargements is determined by the viscosity of the liquid being metered and may be varied by radially adjustable plate means (see Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), the enlargements being provided to reduce turbulence.
