In a colour printing process, white light is used for the exposure and after passing through the negative 24 acts on photo-cells responsive respectively to the three primary colours. These with the help of integrating circuits and solenoids 13 ... 15, terminate the exposure to each primary colour by interposing a filter 3 ... 5 of the complementary colour. As shown, the light is reflected to the photo-cells after penetrating the sensitive material. In another system, Fig. 2 (not shown), the light is reflected on to the photo-cells after reflection from the sensitive surface. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the arrangement comprises a semi-transparent mirror between the sensitive surface and the projection lens for directing light to the photocells. As shown in Fig. 4 the photo-cells are arranged at 26 in a ring between the negative and the projection lens. It may be arranged that when all three filters have been interposed the light is automatically switched off and the solenoids are released. Specifications 805,891 is referred to.
