Abstract

816,153. Diffraction devices. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 4, 1956 [April 4, 1955], No. 10328/56. Class 40 (3). In an X-ray or gamma ray diffraction device in which rays from a source 18 are collimated by a first collimator 20 and, after diffractions by the substance to be examined, 24, pass to a radiation receiving device 32 via a second collimator 31, the latter is provided with grooves 42 for receiving a slide member 45 carrying an auxiliiary source of rays 54 (e.g. the isotopes 55 of iron, 113 of tin or the isotope 65 of zinc), of known energy, by means of which the indicating or measuring equipment connected to device 32 may be calibrated.
