816,122. Cathode-ray oscilloscopes; cathode-ray tube operating circuits. MILLS, C. G. Dec. 3, 1957 [Sept. 5, 1956], No. 27165/56. Class 40 (7). A cathode-ray (C.R.) oscilloscope for voltage measurement comprises an input signal attenuator 5 whose output is fed to the control grid of amplifier valve V1which is cathode-coupled by the high-valve resistor 10 to amplifier valve V2, the pushpull circuit output being connected to the C.R. tube Y-plates; the gain of the amplifier increases with increasing supply voltage to give a constant deflection sensitivity. Wiper 8 of potentiometer P is set to give a standard deflection, in conjunction with attenuator wiper 7, and the input voltage value is read off associated dials. Control of Y-shift is afforded by the variation of the standing grid bias on valve V2 by potentiometer 6. The apparatus may be mounted between apertured front and rear plates united by stringers and with the C.R. tube inclined at 20 degrees to the horizontal.
