815,329. Coincidence rangefinders. BEACONING OPTICAL & PRECISION MATERIALS CO. Ltd. April 6, 1956 [May 21, 1955], No. 10580/56. Class 97(1) A range-finder includes a main body member, a supporting member mounted therein, a combining prism mounted on the supporting member, a pair of co-axial objectives mounted on the supporting member to give two images in a single plane of the same distance object by means of the combining prism, a plane parallel transparent plate for bringing the images into coincidence located between one objective and its focal point, and means for independently mounting the plate for rotation in the body member about an axis perpendicular to the plane of range-finding so as to be out of physical contact with said supporting member. As shown the objectives IL, IR are mounted with the beam combining prism 7 on a support 10 carried by the range-finder casing 11 which mounts end prism 6L, 6R. The plate 3 is mounted on an axis 3a supported by the casing 11 and is rotated by cam 17 and arm 4<SP>1</SP> to effect coincidence, a scale 18 serving to indicate the range. Alternatively the arm 4<SP>1</SP> may be moved directly over an appropriate scale.
