Abstract

1483950 Measuring speed of light LEYBOLDHERAEUS-VERWALTUNG GmbH 16 Oct 1975 [23 Nov 1974 4 June 1975] 42559/75 Heading G2J To avoid the usual beam-splitting sheet of glass in the Foucault apparatus, the returning beam 10 is deflected, adjacent the rotating mirror 2, by one or more fixed optical elements e.g. prism 8 before falling on ground glass plate 11 for observation. In a modification Fig. 2 (not shown), two plane mirrors are fixedly mounted to face the rotating mirror 2. One is parallel to the axis of rotation while the other is at a small angle thereto.
