A dough container, Fig. 4, comprises an inner fibrous wrapper 14 with a helical separation line formed therein, an inner liner 17, an outer wrapper 18 detachably held in place and having a weakened tear line to permit at least a portion of the outer wrapper 18 to be torn away from the remainder thereof and from the inner wrapper 14 to expose the helical separation line, and a pair of end closures secured to the end of the container to seal it. In Fig. 4 the inner wrapper 14 is helically wound with the abutting edges 15, 16 forming the helical separation line. The outer wrapper 18 is helically wound in a similar manner with its abutting edges 19, 20 glued to the inner wrapper 14 over an area away from the abutting edges 15, 16 of the inner wrapper. A helical label 23 secured to the outer wrapper 18 to form part thereof has a weakened helical tear line 29, Fig. 2, of perforations preferably lying adjacent the abutting edge 19 of the outer wrapper 18. The outer wrapping 18 and the label 23 are provided adjacent one end of the container with a circumferential cut 26 which passes completely through the label 23 and the outer wrapping 18 but not into the inner wrapper 14. In a modified form, the outer wrapper 18 may be formed with a helical tear strip over the abutting edges 15, 16 of the inner wrapper so that on removal of this tear strip said abutting edges will be exposed. In either case, when the abutting edges 15, 16 have been exposed the container may be manually twisted to aid the internal gas pressure produced by the dough formations to tear the foil liner 17 at the abutting edges 15, 16 of the inner wrapper 14 and thus provide a spiral opening.
