813,237. Axle box mountings. LENNING (PROPRIETARY) Ltd., E. C., and BROOM & CO. (PROPRIETARY) Ltd., A. Aug. 29, 1957, No. 27291/57. Classes 103(6) and 108(2) An axle box is mounted on a vehicle chassis 24 by means of a pair of V-shaped resilient members 9 disposed between complementary-shaped locating means 6 associated with the axle box and similarly shaped retaining means 13 connected to the chassis 24. In Figs. 1 and 2, the means 6 consist of projections 4, 5, 6, 7, of a housing 1 split in a plane disposed at right angles to the axle box axis. The means 13 comprise angle-section members 13, 14 which are pivotally mounted on the chassis 24 by pins 21. Resilient buffers 25, 25, are disposed between each member 13, 14 and the vehicle body 27. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), there is no housing 1, and the projections 4 to 7 are replaced by a single pair of projections integral with the axle box. The respective upper limbs of the members 13, 14 are provided by an integral, member which is welded to the chassis. The lower limbs are provided by surfaces of an arcuate shaped bracket which-is bolted. to the upper member. The upper limb of each resilient member 9 is thicker than the lower limb.
