In an electric signalling system of the type in which two television or like information signals are transmitted simultaneously but independently as modulation of a sub-carrier which modulates a main radio-frequency carrier and the information signals are added before modulation is effected, to correcting signals for the purpose of reducing the effect of cross-talk, the correcting signals are the same for each of the information signals, and are proportional to the product of the information signals. The system is similar to that described in Specification 776,989, but it is shown that a close approximation to the desired correction, with a simplification of the apparatus, is obtained with correcting signals satisfying the above conditions. Provision may also be made for gamma correction in a television transmitting system. In the embodiment described, signals f 1 ,f 2 originating from two television cameras are first applied to two units 10 and 11 respectively which operate as gamma correctors and supply signals f 1 1/γ and f 2 <SP>1</SP>/γ to a unit 12 having an output proportional to the product of the incoming signals amplified by a suitable factor K to provide the correcting signal. The correcting signals are applied to mixers 13, 14 which also receive inputs from the units 10, 11 respectively and provide outputs # 1 = f 1 <SP>1</SP>/γ + Kf 1 <SP>1</SP>/γf 2 <SP>1</SP>/γ and # 2 =f 2 <SP>1</SP>/γ+ Kf 1 <SP>1</SP>/γ f 2 <SP>1</SP>/γ. These signals are applied to modulators 15, 16 and multiplied by phase-displaced functions g 1 = 1 + 2 cos # o t and g 2 = 1 - 2 cos # o t, where # 0 is the angular frequency of the sub-carrier, as described in Specification 776,989. The outputs of modulators 15, 16 are combined at 17 and applied via a filter 18 to a modulator to modulate the main carrier.
