812,873. Magnetic filters. ARLON, N.V. June 18, 1957, No. 19225/57. Class 117 A magnetic filter for cleaning liquids in which solid particles are suspended comprises a casing 1 provided with two chambers 4 each communicating with a central cylindrical shaped part by means of a vertical slot 5. The central part of the casing contains a magnetic body consisting of discs 6 of a hard magnetic material having discs 7 of soft magnetic material, e.g. soft iron, between them, the discs being carried by a non-magnetic rod 8 secured to a cover 9 which is removably seated in the top of the casing. Liquid to be treated enters one of two connections 2, 3 and, passing through one of the slots 5, strikes the circumferential surface of the magnetic body. The attracted magnetic particles constitute a kind of brush which removes non-magnetic particles. The cleaned liquid leaves the filter by the other connection. The hard magnetic discs may be placed with their faces of same polarity facing each other.
