812,842. Sliding clasp fasteners. MULKA, F. April 3, 1957, No. 10924/57. Class 44 In a sliding clasp fastener having sealing edges 4a, 5a which are pressed tightly one against the other in the closed position and having two rows of elements 7 which are hooked one within the other in the closing positions, a number of end elements 8 which are not hooked one within the other is provided at one end of the fastener and the fastener is held closed at this position by the sliding clasp 2. As shown, in which all the elements are secured to stringers 4 and 5, which may be of textile or synthetic plastic material, by clips 6 and in which the ends of the stringers shown are permanently connected together by a clamp 1, the end elements 8 are arranged to be within the clasp 2, when the latter is moved to its extreme end position. The sliding clasp 2 is formed with parallel guideways for the elements and is retained in the closed position of the fastener by a spring strip member attached to the clamp and engaging a pin on the clasp. The pin is provided with a hole for a sealing wire 10; or padlock. The fastener is opened by displacing the clap away from the clamp 1 and then pulling the elements apart. In another arrangement Figs. 4 and 7 (not shown) the clasp is provided with a pivotally mounted stirrup the free end of which in the closed position of the clasp engages and is locked to the end clamp but which, as the clasp is moved away from the clamp, assists in separating the fastener elements.
