Abstract
812,755. Removing dust generated in industrial processes. ALLEN RUBBER CO. Ltd., J., PACE, A. A., and BUTTFIELD, J. April 25, 1957 [March 5, 1956], No. 6878/56. Class 8(2). A flock-spray booth having workpiece inlet and outlet apertures 14,15, Fig. 1, through which atmospheric air may be drawn by a fan 21 located in an exhaust duct 19 has a filter element 22 between the spray nozzles 17 and the sides of the upper part 10 of the booth and means whereby a selected portion of the filter element 22 may be isolated from the exhaust duct 19 and connected on the exhaust side of said portion to air, e.g., atmosphere at a pressure greater than that at the other side of said portion to effect reverse-flow cleaning of the selected portion of the filter. To this end the space between the booth canopy 10 and the exhaust side of the filter 22 is divided into four sections by partitions 23 . . . 26, Fig. 2, which extend into a suction chamber 18 which is also divided into sections 18 a ... d each of which has a hinged flap 27 connected by a rod 31 to a fluid operated plunger 32 and serving to isolate any particular section from the exhaust 19 and connect it to atmosphere through. an aperture 29 in the side of the chamber 18. Supply of fluid pressure to each jack is controlled' by a separate value assembly actuated sequentially by cams on an intermittently rotated shaft.
