Class 137 A method of reducing the influence of solar radiation and outdoor temperature on air conditioned rooms comprises exhausting the ventilating air from one or more spaces, shielded from the room, formed between the inner pane of the window and a partition in the window bay, the exhaust air being introduced into the spaces through slots arranged at the lower edge and/or sides of the partition. As shown, air is exhausted through slots 5 at the lower edge of a partition 3 in the window bay, to a space 4 between the window 2 and the partition and finally through slots 6 to an exhaust duct 7. The partition may be of a transluscent material impermeable to air, or may be of a heat absorbing material. A blind 8 may be arranged between the partition and the window to absorb solar radiation.
