Abstract
811,750. Tank fitting. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Aug. 8, 1957 [Aug. 15, 1956], No. 25019/56. Class 69 (1). [Also in Group XXI] The fuel tank 19 of an aircraft is supplied with blanketing gas under pressure to avoid both danger of fire or explosion (see Group XXI) and the occurrence of excessive pressure differential between the tank and its surroundings under all conditions of flight, the blanketing gas being supplied in its gaseous or liquefied phase through a control valve 20 which opens to admit nitrogen when the pressure differential between the tank 19 and its surroundings falls below a predetermined value. The tank 19 has a relief valve 22 which vents the tank upon the pressure therein becoming excessive. The valve 22 may serve as a differential pressure control valve arranged to open the valve 20 by a coupling 23 when the pressure in the tank drops to a predetermined minimum. Specification 796,349, [Group XXVIII, is referred to.
