Abstract

810,402. Endless-belt conveyers. LEIMER, A., [trading as ERHARDT & LEIMER, OHG.]. Feb. 15, 1957, No. 5326/57. Class 78 (1). The position of a Fourdrinier wire or felt cloth b in a paper-making machine is maintained automatically by a correcting roller c mounted on a non-rotatable shaft one end of which is mounted on a vertical pivot c<SP>1</SP> and the other end of which carries a nut in threaded engagement with a spindle rotated by a servomotor d. The edges of the belt are contacted by feeler elements e and, if desired, by supplementary feeler elements e<SP>1</SP>. The end roller a supporting the belt drives a make-and-break switch f, or a rotatable member f<SP>1</SP>, in conformity with the speed of the belt. A fulger f<SP>2</SP> on the member f<SP>1</SP> momentarily closes the contacts f<SP>3</SP> when the belt has travelled a predetermined distance. The feeler elements e are connected with the switch f through the circuit g. A circuit g<SP>1</SP> may connect the feeler elements g, g<SP>1</SP> with a warning bell g<SP>2</SP>. The switch f is connected by lead h to a start-stop switch i which controls a reversing relay of the servomotor. A lead l connects the switch i to the switch m which controls the position of the roller c. The movable element m<SP>1</SP> of this switch is connected mechanically with the roller c and moves to and fro as the roller moves about the pivot c<SP>1</SP>. Contact studs m<SP>4</SP> are mounted adjustably on the rod m<SP>1</SP> and arranged to depress a contact lever m<SP>3</SP>. The spaces n, n<SP>1</SP>, n2 and n<SP>3</SP> decrease in length from the middle towards the ends. The deflection of the roller is limited by switches m<SP>6</SP> If the belt departs from the central position, it will contact a feeler e which will give, prepare or store a signal to move the belt by a certain amount. This signal will be accepted when the finger f<SP>2</SP> closes the contact f<SP>3</SP> and the amount of restoration will be determined by whichever stud m<SP>4</SP> happens to be in contact with the arm m<SP>3</SP> and by the distance between the stud and its neighbouring stud in the direction of movement of the rod m<SP>1</SP>. The movement is completed before the finger f<SP>2</SP> again closes the contact f<SP>3</SP>. If this movement is insufficient, the feeler is still actuated and further movement occurs.
