Abstract

810,326. Ironing. JACOBSON, S. June 19, 1956, No.19012/56. Class 138 (2). An accessory for a steam iron comprises a perforated sheet of polymerized tetrafluoroethylene, and means for attaching the sheet to the bottom surface of the iron. The accessory may comprise a shoe 10 secured in place by means of a releasable coil spring 20. The shoe 10 has flanges 12, 15 and may be moulded or cut from a sheet of the resin. The perforations 30 may be distributed over the whole area of the shoe or over the front half portion only. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the upper edges of the flanges 12, 15 are received in a channel member extending around the periphery of the shoe, the sides of the channel being pressed together to retain it in position. To prevent wrinkling in use the shoe 10 is heated to between 400‹ and 450‹ F. for ¢ to ¥ hour. Specification 625,348, [Group IV (a)], is referred to.
