Abstract
810,161. Applying text to kinematograph films. ERTNAES, O. Jan. 21, 1957, No. 2179/57. Class 98(2) A strip of film 1 is moved by gripping member 16 intermittently between die 2 arranged for up and down movement and cliche carrying member 3 resting on pad 4, the member 3 having a number of cliches and being moved along from one cliche to the next after the desired number of frames have been impressed with the text. The pressure may be equal for texts of different lengths, and for this the cliche carrying member 3, Fig. 2, has shoulders 5, 6 raised to the height of the cliches 7, 10, 11, which shoulders carry the greater part of the pressure. Recesses 15 in shoulder 6 are used for moving the member 3. In operation a first-applied wax coating on the emulsion side of the film 1 is removed in text formation by the cliche, the bared emulsion surface is etched away and then remaining etching liquid and wax are removed; or the film may be moistened and the cliche member heated to remove text areas of emulsion without further operations.
