Abstract

810,041. Moulding resin articles. T.I. (GROUP SERVICES) Ltd. Feb. 5, 1957 [Dec. 3, 1955], No. 34684/55. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XIX] A thermosetting resin article is formed by placing liquid resin in a container having a window 3, directing an electron beam from a source 1 onto the resin, and continuously drawing the set resin away from the container. As shown in. Fig. 1, the beam may be focussed to form a tube the cross-section of which may be varied by varying the beam by means of electrodes 6, 7 or by varying the speed at which the tube is withdrawn. In a modification, Fig. 2, the shape of the article formed is defined by a stencil 10 consisting of an earthed metal plate. A stencil of variable area such as an iris may be used.
