809,988. Printing-machines; feeding webs. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORPORATION. April 3, 1957 [May 29, 1956], No. 10865/57. Classes 100(1) and 100(2) A printing-machine comprises a platen movable to and from printing position, said movement being transmitted to drive means for feeding a web intermittently along a guideway so as to print successively on different areas thereof, the feeding means comprising a pivotally mounted member reciprocable over the guideway and engaging successive perforations in the web, a spring urging the feed member into a perforation when in retracted position so as to feed the web during its forward movement. An ink roller IR, Fig. 1, passes over an embossed printing-plate D, and the web to be printed passes along a guide plate 41, Figs. 1 and 3, and over an opening 26 in a ribbon guard 25. A platen 30 having a resilient facing 31 is pivotable by an arm 33 to and from printing position. The web passes below clamps 65, 66 urged downwards by springs 68. A feed projection 90 on a plate 92 is mounted on a feed finger 82 reciprocated by an arm 85. The finger 82 is retracted when the platen is lowered through a bell-crank 125, 115, pin 111 and arm 110, and vice versa. When the finger is retracted, the projection 90 rides along the web and is pressed into the next perforation therein by a spring 87, then feeding the web on the forward stroke.
