Abstract

Before or after metallization by vapour deposition in vacuo, fully synthetic high polymer textile fibres are treated with an agent which makes them resistant to swelling and/or water-repellent. The fibres may be based on polyamides, polyacrylonitriles or polyesters, and be in the form of yarns or woven or knitted fabrics. Specified agents are silicones, di-isocyanates, and silicone/di-isocyanate mixtures. Aluminium is the coating metal disclosed.
