Abstract
809,719. Ticket-issuing machines. HOBART MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 25, 1957 [Jan. 25, 1956], No. 2771/57. Class 106 (3). An apparatus for computing the value of articles as they are weighed and for issuing printed tickets identifying the weight, unit price and value of each article, includes means for preventing delivery of a succeeding ticket until the ticket previously delivered to a delivery station has been withdrawn therefrom. In Fig. 5, power driven rollers 44, 45 advance a printed ticket 25, face downwards, such that its leading edge engages and slides upwardly along a guide surface 66 until the trailing end of the ticket is free of the feed rolls. The upward movement of the ticket then stops and it slides back and down a shoot 60 in a manner turning the ticket over to a face-up position. The bottom edge of the ticket comes to rest against a stop 70, Fig. 4, and the ticket remains at this delivery station until a lever 75 is pushed back by an operator, such movement of the lever 75 causing the stop 70 to retract and permit the ticket to slide down the rest of the shoot 60. A motor 50, coupled to the rollers 44, 45 is included in a circuit designed to provide cyclic operation of the motor, and this circuit includes a switch 80 which requires operation after one cycle has been completed before a second cycle can be started. On depressing the lever 75, to release a ticket 25 on the stop 70, a finger 85 actuates the switch 80 to permit a further ticket to be printed when desired. In a modified construction, Fig. 8, for use with tickets having a heat activatable adhesive coating on their backs, a printed ticket is advanced, face downwards, by power operated rollers 44 45, and the ejected ticket slides down a shoot 170 to a position over a heated plate 155. The ticket is held in this position by the inner end of a handle 165 comparable in function to the stop 70. An operator then presses a package against the handle 165 to depress it against a spring 167 until the package engages and adheres to the tacky surface of the ticket. A switch 80 serving the same function as the previous switch is actuated when the handle 165 is depressed. If the package contains frozen foods, for example, it may be necessary to hold the package and the ticket on the heater for a substantial interval, and to prevent a further ticket from being delivered during this time the electrical circuit is wired such that the motor 50 is freed on the release and not the depression of the handle 165. Specifications 406,654, 406,676, 773,395, [Group XXXV], 803,413 and 808,235 are referred to.
