A felting needle comprises a blade 7 having three blunt ribs 9 formed at equal angular spacings separated by longitudinal grooves 11. Each rib is provided with barbs 10 which are staggered with respect to the barbs on adjacent ribs. The blade is supported by a round shank member 5 having a tang member 6.
