807,483. Harvesting root-crops. STEVENS GEB., VENNOOTSCHAP IN GEMEENSCHAPPELIJKENAAM. Oct. 19, 1956 [Oct. 22, 1955], No. 31913/56. Class 6(3). In a root-crop harvester of the type having an openwork drum 1 receiving the dug crop and rotating about a longitudinal axis so as to tumble the crop and deposit it on to an endless haulm-conveyer extending substantially axially of the drum, the conveyer comprises a fixed support 10 and a plurality of tine-bars 16 slidably mounted thereon and guided thereby, the tine-bars being attached to endless chains 13-14 by which they are moved over the support. The support, which is mounted on vertical struts 22, 23, is curved in transverse section, to enable potatoes to roll off, and has barrelshaped ends 11, 12. The tine-bars have rearwardly-extending tines 19, preferably curved. Lateral shields 20, 21 protect the sides of the support. The conveyer is driven by belts 6, 9 from gearing which also rdives the drum through friction-wheels 3 on a longitudinal shaft 4. In modifications the transverse section of the support may be an inclined plane or of inverted V-shape.
