Abstract
807,253. Hose and fittings. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Dec. 19, 1956 [Dec. 19, 1955], No. 38720/56. Class 99(1). A hose end fitting comprises a tubular member 14 having an enlarged beading 20 disposed within the bore of the hose 18 which is surrounded by a sleeve 12 having open ends one of which 37 is bent inwardly, which is compressed on the hose in an annular concave shape. As shown the enlarged end 20 of the tube 14 is V-shaped and the other end 22 is flared to form a concave conical seat and the tube is surrounded by a freely rotatable nut 16. Assembly is carried out by fitting the nut 16, adapted to engage a corresponding fitting over the tube 14, the end flare and beading 22, 20 respectively then formed on the tube and the sleeve 12 placed on the hose 18 into the bore of which is forcibly inserted the tube 14 to a depth equal to the length of the sleeve. The sleeve 12 made of sheet metal or tubing is then constricted by a crimping machine so that the depth of the crimp 32 is preferably one-half the thickness of the hose so that the face of the crimp at 34 is substantially parallel to the inner side 36 of the beading 20 and the end 37 remains as a convex annular corrugation gripping the hose.
