806,028. Automatic - exchange systems; magnetic amplifiers. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELEPHONES. Dec. 10, 1956 [Dec. 8, 1955], No. 37710/56. Classes 40 (4) and 40 (9). In a system for selecting one out of a number of calling lines, or one out of a number of routes to be taken by a telephone call through an exchange, each line or route is associated with a magneto-static relay, the energization of any one of these operating a pilot relay which locks out all the other relays. The magneto-static relays are provided with three control windings and a biassing winding the control ampereturns (NIc)/out (Is) characteristic being as shown in Fig. 7. The relays R1 . . . Rn are arranged as shown in Fig. 4. Available routes or calling lines are marked by energizing corresponding windings R11 ... Rn1 of the relays. Thus, supposing both R21 and R31 are energized-then relay R2, in operating, energizes the pilot relay B which in turn applies opposing current to all windings R12 . . . Rn2 of the relays to prevent any other relay except R2 operating. Furthermore, relay R2 energizes opposing windings R33 ... Rn3 in all succeeding relays to establish priority for R2. In Fig. 7, P1 represents the condition of the first choice relay R2 when the control current is applied to winding R21. Subsequent application by the pilot relay of the current to winding R22 brings the point back to P2, the relay still remaining operated. Any relay whose winding R11, say, is operated after the application of current to winding R12 will be represented by P3 and remain unoperated. Point P4 represents the state of a relay, say R3, succeeding R2 in which the current in winding R31 is opposed by current in both of windings R32, R33.
