Abstract
805,634. Cable and wire terminals. AMP Inc. March 23, 1955 [March 26, 1954], No. 8449/55. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXII] The ferrule 14 of a connector 10 has a jacket 18 of rigid, organic plastic material, such as nylon, fusion bonded thereto or to a seamless metal tube 16 surrounding and secured to the ferrule. The jacket is first force-fitted over the tube or ferrule with or without the use of adhesive and the assembly is then heated for a short time to melt the material of the jacket immediately adjacent the tube or ferrule, whereby to form the fusion bond. The assembly may be chilled immediately after heating to stop continued fusion due to the thermal capacity of the ferrule or tube. Specifications 569,366 and 613,013 are referred to.
