Abstract

805,285. Blocks for floorings &c. MUIR, D. F. FORRESTER-. May 15, 1957 [May 16, 1956, June 25, 1956], No. 15228/56. Class 87(1) A rectangular building block formed with intersecting channels in its underside is provided with at least one upwardly extending air chamber at a channel intersection point. In a block with. one longitudinal channel c and two transverse channels d extending at right angles thereto, as in Fig. 1, or obliquely, as in Fig. 3, the channels are domed upwardly at their intersections to form air chambers e, f, respectively. In a modification Fig. 4, the air chambers i are of frustoconical form. The channels may be of inverted U- or V-shape or rectangular in cross-section. The unchannelled portions form pillars g preferably rounded on their inner sides. Half-blocks having only one transverse channel d are also described. The third Provisional Specification describes also a block having intersecting channels in both its upper and lower surfaces.
