[Also in Group XXXVII] A printed circuit assembly comprises a main printed circuit panel on which conductors are produced by selectively etching away portions of a copper foil attached to a synthetic resin base and a second smaller panel prepared similarly to the main panel and comprising the fixed contacts of a switch and the conductive leads thereto, the second panel being mounted on the main panel so that the conductive leads thereof make electrical contact with appropriate conductors of the main panel. A movable switch member is secured to the second panel, the conductors and contacts of which are plated, e.g. with silver, to reduce wear and corrosion. As shown in Fig. 2, the second panel 8 comprises contact portions 1, 2, 3 which are connected to respective extensions 9, 10, 11 of the panel; these extensions may be inserted in appropriately placed slots in the main panel and then soldered to give a good electrical and mechanical connection between the two panels. A movable contact 4 made of phosphor-bronze strip connects together either contacts 1 and 2 or contacts 2 and 3. Fig. 1 shows the switch operating mechanism comprising a knob 18 having a projection 19 sliding in a slot in a panel 22 forming a wall of the cabinet in which the assembly is housed and terminating in a forked member 20 which engages a member 12 to which the movable contact 4 is secured. The member 12 passes through a slot in the panel 8 and has extension pieces 15, 16 whereby the contact 4 is held in engagement with the fixed contacts. A bowed spring 23 secured to the back wall of the panel 22 and operating upon a projection formed upon the forked member 20 holds the knob 18 in engagement with the panel 22.
