Abstract

A white unsized cellulosic material, e.g. paper, impregnated with 0.01 to 0.7 gms./cc. of anhydrous cobaltous bromide is used to detect the presence of water in liquids such as dichloro-difluoromethane, trichloromonofluoromethane, monochloro-difluoromethane methyl chloride and gasoline. The estimation of the amount of water, usually lower than 5000 parts/million, is made by comparing with standard colours.
