Abstract
804,808. Electronic counters. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. July 15, 1955 [July 19, 1954], No. 20519/55. Class 106 (1). The description given is identical with part of the description of the first embodiment of a cathode-ray tube storage system described in Specification 804,809, the claims relating to the binary - coded - decimal regeneration counter thereof, except that it also describes how the radix of the counter can be changed to any number between 1 and 16 by connecting gate 201a, Fig. 7A (Fig. 5A of Specification 804,809) to different terminals. For example if the lefthand terminal 202 of the gate 201a is connected to terminal D1 instead of terminal D2 the radix is six. The connections that have to be made for obtaining any radix from 1 to 16 are shown in Fig. 26, the gate 201a, being replaced in some cases by one of three and four input gates 451a and 452a, Fig. 25, and the pulse " n.2 " being a pulse that occurs in every eight-clock pulse cycle at time n.20. Specification 719,418, [Group XL (c)], also is referred to.
