Abstract

A plaster composition comprises a major proportion, i.e., more than 50 per cent by weight, of plaster of Paris and from 0,2 to 2 per cent, preferably 0,75 per cent by weight of polyacrylamide. From 1 to 5 per cent animal glue, up to 1 per cent of a detergent as wetting agent, up to 10 per cent and preferably between 4 and 5 per cent of an inert filler, e.g., 200 mesh BSS sieve wood cellulose or powdered coco-nut shells, finely-divided mica or short fibre asbestos, not more than 4 per cent gypsum, are desirably included in the composition. When mixed with water the ratio of the composition by weight thereto lies between 2 : 1 and 2,75 : 1 and is preferably 2,50 : 1.
