Abstract
This invention comprises a ferrous sulphateglycine complex, particularly a complex being light brown coloured and containing about 100 mgm. FeII per 0.63 g., and the manufacture thereof by interacting ferrous sulphate and glycine in an inert environment. In examples, ferrous sulphate and glycine in equimolar proportions are heated to 70 DEG C. under nitrogen when the complex is formed as soon as the colour of the product turns a uniform light-brown; alternatively ferrous sulphate and glycine (1:1) are left to react in a little oxygen-free water under nitrogen and gentle warming, the ferrous sulphate complex being precipitated with ethyl alcohol or any other water-miscible organic solvent.
