Abstract

802,374. Aerating sewage or other liquid. DISTILLERS CO., Ltd. Sept. 13, 1956 [Sept. 24, 1955], No. 27281/55. Classes 46 and 111. A device for introducing gas into liquids comprises a chamber 1, made from elastic material such as rubber, having a series of outlets formed as self-sealing perforations. The gas enters through the inlet 4 and the pressure of the gas forces the perforations open to emit the gas into the liquid. The chamber 1 is attached to a support means 7 by a spiral of rigid material 2 fixed to the support at 8, the support being of sufficient weight to cause the device to sink in the liquid. The perforations are formed by piercing the chamber wall with a needle and are arranged mainly in the uppermost wall of the chamber, the perforations preferably being X-, Y- or V-shaped. Two brackets 5 may be provided for lifting purposes and the support 7 may have rollers 6 to assist in lowering the device into a V-shaped trough. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 712,170 [Group II].
