Abstract
802,014. Opening and closing tyre moulds. VEB ERSTE MASCHINENFABRIK KARLMARX-STADT. Sept. 27, 1955, No. 27469/55. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXX] A mobile apparatus for lifting the covers from tyre mould bases and replacing them comprises a carriage 15 which runs on rails 13, 14 alongside moulds 1 to 12. The carriage supports a framework 46 within which a slide 49 is moved up and down by an electric motor 52 via crank rod 54. The slide carries a tube 55 which is moved to and fro horizontally between rollers 56 by an electric motor 57 via splined shaft 58, gearing 59, screw 60 and a nut fixed to the tube. A mould-cover-engaging device is carried by a bell-crank 66 one arm of which is pivoted at 63 to the tube 55, the other arm carrying a roller 68 which runs in a slot 69 in slide 49. The mould cover has fixed bayonet-joint lugs 77, 78, and the device includes bayonet-joint lugs 75, 76 which can be moved through 90 degrees by means of a handle and positioned under the lugs 77, 78 to secure the mould cover to the device. When the lugs 75, 76 are so moved, a mould locking member is unlocked by the movement of two bars which are secured to and move with the lugs, the mould cover being thus released from the base. The slide, tube and device 64 is then raised to the Fig. 2 position, carrying the mould cover. To replace the cover the movements are reversed. The carriage 15 has twelve electrical contacts, one for each mould, and is moved by an electric motor which takes current from conductors 43, 44, 45. Between the rails are twelve recesses 16 ... 27, one opposite each mould. Operation. The carriage being to the extreme left, Fig. 1, and the mould 4 being ready for opening, the operator turns a switch-cumindicator handle 83 (see Fig. 5 (not show-n), to position 4 and presses a switch, whereupon the carriage moves to the right, Fig. 1, and stops in the position shown. It stops because contact 31 thereon engages contact 31a on mould 4 and switches off the carriage motor. This engagement of contacts also moves a catch 86 on the carriage to engage recess 19 and lock the carriage in position. The operator then presses a switch to energize motor 57 to move the device laterally, and simultaneously a slave switch energizes the motor 52 to lower the device into engagement with the mould cover. The motors 57, 52 are automatically switched off. On movement of the lugs 75, 76 to release the mould cover, the motors 52, 57 are restarted to move the cover laterally and upwards away from the mould. After replacement of the mould cover a magnet 85 is energized to release the catch 86 to allow the carriage to be moved to another mould.
