Abstract

801,654. Electric heating panels. DULRAE, Ltd., STEELE. W. H., and LEA, N. J. Dec. 22, 1955, No. 36792/55. Class 39(3) A heating panel comprises two layers of rigid asbestos cement board united by a thin layer of a resin bonded asbestos, or other resin bonded material activited to unite the boards with sinuous lengths of resistance wire or tape between and insulated from the asbestos cement. Two resin bonded asbestos sheets may form the insulation or the resistance wire is insulated e.g. by layers of glass silk or a coating of enamel or plastic e.g. nylon. The ends of the wire are connected to flat terminal strips or tags held between the rigid boards. The resin-bonded material may be laid along the margins only of the opposed boards, the sinuous wires between the margins being then insulated either by insulations thereon or by layers of insulation e.g. glass silk or paper impregnated with resin between the boards. A number of panels thus assembled may be stacked in a single or multi-daylight heated press, if necessary interleaved with heaters of the panel type and subjected to heat and pressure to cure the resin-bonded material and reduce its thickness from 1/16 in. to 0.016 in. The boards are flat or corrugated before assembly. Specification 661,155 is referred to.
