Abstract

801,508. Winding and delivering spools. AYRTON & CO., Ltd., W. June 30, 1955 [April 1. 1954], No. 9515/54. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In an automatic spooling machine having a delivery shoot k for the wound spools, stripping and guide means are provided, associated with both winding centres b, e and adapted to occupy a position relatively adjacent the ends of the spool that the stripping and guide means hold each spool from falling until it has been stripped from both centres so that it is delivered to the centre Without loss of orientation from its winding position by the combined action of the stripping and guide means. When a spool is wound, the spindle b is withdrawn and a plate p attached to an extension o of the supply magazine shoot @a strips the bobbin from the centre e as the tail stock c is withdrawn. The distance between the plate p and the yarn severing knife m, m<SP>1</SP> is only a little greater than the length of a spool so that, on doffiing, the spool will not fall end-first. After rolling down the shoot k, the spool is supported upon anintermittently moved belt q until it reaches a stop plate r whereupon it rolls off the belt q downwardly between adjustable guides s and parallel flexible strips s<SP>1</SP> selectively into magazines u, u<SP>1</SP>. A slide t mounted on a rod t<SP>1</SP> and operated by a handle t<SP>2</SP> permits the selection to be accomplished. Arms q<SP>2</SP> are provided to turn over any spool which may accidently arrive at that point "on-end". The magazines u, u<SP>1</SP> may be suitable for feeding the spools to an automatic ticketing machine.
