801,359. Roller bearings. CONTINA BUREAUXUND RECHENMASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Nov. 8, 1956 [Nov. 22, 1955], No. 34192/56. Addition to 801,358. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXXVIII] An improvement in or modification of the record player turntable change speed converter claimed in Claim 1 of the parent Specification comprises arranging the first and second bearings 4, 14 at different radii from the converter axis 5-5 and so disposing the said bearings with respect to one another in the direction of said axis that they overlap each other at least partially. As shown, the bearings are tapered rollers and the axes of the gearing rollers 4 lie on a cone the apex angle of which is obtuse. The apex point 6 is chosen to give such a theoretical gearing ratio that, allowing for the occurrence of slip during operation, the friction disc 12 rotates at half the record player turntable speed; alternatively it may be chosen to convert a turntable speed of 78 R.P.M. to 45 R.P.M. The friction disc 1 for depositing on the turntable, not shown, carries a ring 2 forming one runway 3 for the rollers 4 which are housed in a cage 16 secured to the friction disc 12 which forms the auxiliary turntable. A bush 17 and lock nut 19 secure the cage 16 and disc 12 axially to the disc 1 whilst permitting relative rotation therebetween. An annular plate 8 forms the other runway 7 for bearings 4, is held stationary in operation by an arm 11 and has a rim 10 forming one runway 13 for the bearings 14 the other of which is formed on a ring 15 secured to disc 12.
