Abstract

800,318. Filters for liquids. RAUMAREPOLA OY. Oct. 23, 1956, No. 32259/56. Class 46. In a straining tower 1 to which fibrous slurry is fed from an inlet 10 and a rotary scraper 4 is spaced from and above a filter screen 2 to provide a feed passage 13 there-between, there being a distributing duct 9 surrounding the filter screen 2, the bottom of the distributing duct 9 is lower than the screen to provide a setting chamber for heavy metal &c., particles and the top of the duct is higher than the screen. The inlet 10 or inlets if there are more than one, deliver tangentially to the duct 9 and arms 8 on the scraper 4 direct the slurry on to the screen 2 from which the deposited fibrous matter is removed by scraper blades 5. The floor of the duct 9 slopes downwards to an outlet 15 and an air vent 17 is provided in the upper part of the duct.
