Abstract

A hydrocyclone for classifying solids entrained in a liquid has a tangential inlet or inlets for auxiliary liquid which enter the cyclone at a plane normal to the axis of the cyclone and passing through the apex proximate terminus of the inner vortex formed within the cyclone. Formulae for the position of the plane and for the rate of feed of the auxiliary liquid are given in the Specification.
