[Also in Group XXXIX] In a sound reproducing device which produces artificial reverberation of recorded sound and comprises an endless magnetic record carrier on which is magnetically recorded a sound signal which is being directly reproduced from a record and the magnetically recorded sound is added to the directly reproduced sound, after a time delay, by one or more magnetic reproducing heads spaced along the record carrier, the latter consists of the flange of a gramophone grooved record disc turntable. As shown, a motor 4 drievs a turntable 1 carrying a grooved disc record 2 which is played by a pick-up 6 having a sound reproducing stylus. Sound directly reproduced by primary loud-speakers, not shown, connected to pick-up 6 is recorded. on magnetic material on the outer periphery 7 of the flange 11 of the turntable 1 by a magnetic recording head 8, and subsequent delayed reproduction is effected by two magnetic reproducing heads 9, 10 connected through amplifiers, not shown, to scattered secondary loud-speakers or groups of such loud-speakers. The number of delayed reproductions can be increased by coupling back one or both reproducing heads 9, 10 to the recording head 8 thereby re-recording the signal on the carrier, and the heads may be movable around the turntable flange to vary the reverberation time. The heads 8 ... 10 and the magnetic material alternatively may be disposed inside the turntable flange.
