797,978. Toy musical instruments. KNICKERBOCKER PLASTIC CO., Inc. Jan. 24, 1957 [Jan. 26, 1956], No. 2592/57. Class 132(3) [Also in Group XXXVIII] Sounding elements 32 are mounted on the keys 28 of a toy keyboard instrument. Depression of a key brings the element into contact with a continuously driven striker 42. A resonator tube 62, is mounted above each element so as to reinforce the sound only whilst the key is depressed. L- shaped tubes 66, Fig. 8, may be used. In another arrangement, Fig. 7, the tube 68 is mounted on the key beneath the element 32 so that it reinforces the sound after the key has been released. The sounding element may be a tuning fork. Strikers. A striker consists of a ring 42 loosely linked to a projection 44 on an arm 46 carried by a shaft 48. The shaft 48 is driven by an electric motor 56 and carries a striker for each sounding element. In the instrument shown in Figs. 6 and 7, hammers with resilient shafts 78 are secured to a resiliently mounted supporting bar 76 which is kept in motion by an electrical vibrator 80.
