716,088. Electrophonic musical instruments. MASCARELLO, M. A. Oct. 29, 1952, No. 27181/52. Class 88 (2). In an instrument of the type in which strings are set in vibration by hammers under the control of a keyboard, the strings 2 are arranged in groups of twelve, each group having an electromagnetic pick-up 5. The hammers 10 and dampers 19 are flexibly mounted and are actuated by means of keys 11 mounted on flexible brass strips 16. The instrument has a metal frame 1, a metal base plate 4, and tuning screws 3. A tremolo effect is produced by means of a 6 c/s. oscillator (not shown). From time to time current is supplied to the pick-ups 5 in order to magnetize the steel strings 2.
