Abstract

797,422. Rollers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R. Oct. 27, 1954 [Oct. 7, 1953], No. 27592/53. Class 42 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A troughing roller for supporting the belt or other flexible load-carrying surface 15 of an endless conveyer consists of two flexible roller portions 1, 2, Fig. 1, suspended between brackets 7, 8 and coupled together by a universal joint 6. A roller 16 is arranged parallel to the vertical plane containing the roller portions 1, 2 to support the middle of the belt or other load-carrying surface 15. The brackets 7, 8 are pivoted on brackets 10 and have downward extensions passing through holes 12 in a base-plate 11 and interconnected by the movement equalizing linkage described in Specification 688,540, [Group XXX]. In a modification, Fig. 3, flexible roller portions 19, 20 are coupled through the medium of a roller 26 journalled in fixed bearings and supporting the middle of the belt or other load-carrying surface, two universal joints 23, 24 being interposed between . the roller 26 and the respective roller portions 19, 20.
