In a gearing arrangement in which a gear 16 drives on to a coaxial gear 5 through a plurality of gears 6, 7 on countershafts 7, the shafts 7 are supported on segments 8 which are slidable in circular guides 2, 9 on the casing 1 and are interconnected by toothed segments 15 on bell-cranks 13 and links 11 so as to move to maintain uniform tooth pressure on all the gears.
