Abstract

Substituted sulphonamides of the general formula ArSO2NHCONHR, wherein Ar represents a phenyl or an alkylphenyl radical and R represents an alkyl radical, are prepared by reacting an alkyl carbamyl chloride with the required aryl sulphonamide in the presence of an organic tertiary base, e.g. an aliphatic tertiary amine, dialkyl aniline or a heterocyclic tertiary base such as pyridine or quinoline. In the examples, N-benzenesulphonyl-N1-isopropyl urea and N-benzenesulphonyl-N1-ethyl urea are prepared.
